Gatineau, May 16, 2024 - Brigil is extremely proud to announce that its president and founder, Gilles Desjardins, was awarded the prestigious Gérard-Lesage Medal today by the Université du Québec en Outaouais.
This medal is an institutional distinction granted to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the development and influence of the regional community, as well as to the institutional values of the university.
Gilles Desjardins is also known for his philanthropic commitment. He has financially supported various causes in health, education, culture, and the environment, donating several million dollars over the past decades. Gilles Desjardins recently offered financial support to Gîte Ami as part of their major fundraising campaign.
“This is a very special moment for me and my family. We don't do our work to receive awards and distinctions, but rather to contribute and support the development of our region. We are citizen builders. I'd like to thank the Université du Québec en Outaouais for this recognition,” says Brigil president and founder Gilles Desjardins.
Desjardins also received the Grand bâtisseur de l'Outaouais award from the APCHQ in 2020, the Meritorious Service Medal from the Governor General of Canada in 2018 and was named one of Quebec's top 8 patrons of the arts in 2016.
