Women at Brigil in the spotlight this March 8!

March 08, 2023

As part of International Women's Day, Brigil would like to recognize the valuable contribution of the women who are part of its large family! Their involvement and vision make them remarkable additions to our many teams.

Several women hold important positions at Brigil. Here are a few of them.

Sabrina

Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator

With a degree in Industrial Hygiene and Safety Engineering, Sabrina was soon able to put her knowledge into practice by working as a Health and Safety Specialist for an American company in the oil industry.

Motivated to pursue her career in the construction sector, Sabrina accepted a position as an occupational health and safety (OHS) advisor on construction sites, in addition to acquiring training as an OHS coordinator to be able to put her expertise to use on major construction sites. Her knowledge and skills were highly noticed by Brigil, who recruited her and welcomed her into its large team with open arms.

According to Sabrina, the evolution of technology and the continuous development of work procedures are aspects of the profession that are bringing more and more women into the construction business. Physical strength, once a must, is no longer as essential.

Her prime motivation is to assist employees in the performance of their duties, all in the safest possible environment. One of the main challenges is to integrate a strong culture of health and safety in the workplace by communicating daily the reasons behind all the safety instructions included in our prevention program.

Mélanie

Health and Safety Prevention Officer

With the encouragement of her parents and friends, Mélanie decided to go into the construction sector and began to gain professional experience on the work site. First as a project coordinator, then as a project manager and now as a health and safety officer.

Her passion for this employment sector was seen and nourished by her father-in-law.  According to Mélanie, the world of construction offers endless possibilities for growth. She says she is privileged to be able to make a difference in the lives of Brigil's employees and to continue to acquire new experiences in a field filled with successes and challenges.

Jessica

Project Manager

Jessica's career journey has been peppered with fulfilling experiences. It has allowed her to learn about the mechanics of the profession and to define the environment in which she wants to work - one that encourages diversity, inclusion, and challenge.

Her parents, both teachers, were very supportive of her decision to "break the mold" and develop her independence and passions. Her fiancé and friends have also been strong supporters along the path that led her to Brigil.

Being a woman in the construction business has not always been smooth sailing, however, she is pleased to now be a part of a company that values diversity and to work on a team that is open-minded. She feels that her knowledge and skills are valued and that everyone is considered equally.

Jessica encourages everyone to follow their passion, show determination and seek a positive work environment.

Pascale

Project Manager

Following a return to studies in 2014, graduation in 2017, a five (5) year career with the Quebec government and a short stop at the City of Gatineau, Pascale has joined the Brigil team to oversee the work on the Havre sur Lucerne community site in the Aylmer district.

Passionate about construction since her youth, her parents were far from falling off their chair when they learned of the career choice their daughter intended to pursue. Her perseverance and ambitions led her to a motivating field.

Very proud of her career progression, she aspires to work for a long time in the construction industry, which she describes as challenging and inspiring.
