One of the main attractions for me is the proximity to the bike paths along the river; it’s easy to cross into Gatineau.” Kevin, Brigil’s architectural designer, adds, “Bates Island is accessible by bike. You can picnic, do activities, and even surf in the rapids!” Additionally, Sir John A. Macdonald Drive, just steps away, is closed to traffic on Sundays to welcome cyclists and pedestrians.

Those seeking the vibrancy of downtown only need to head to Wellington West and the Westboro neighborhood, which are home to numerous restaurants and shops. “For a long time, the car was a symbol of freedom, but now it makes us prisoners of traffic jams and payments. The Dale eliminates the need for a vehicle; the Tunney’s station of the O-Train and the widespread public transit system allow for easy and free movement, saving thousands of dollars each year,” says Kevin. “Not to mention the savings on home maintenance; for example, here, we get to enjoy the pool without the worries of upkeep!”
