« I want Gatineau to be the most prosperous city of the province of Quebec! »

 

Fellow residents of Gatineau,

 

Today, I want to clarify my vision for Gatineau. For me, Place des Peuples is another way to live the dream of seeing Gatineau become the most prosperous city of the province of Quebec, both socially and economically.

 

It's no secret, I love my city. I chose to stay here, close to all Brigil's construction sites and projects, with my family and friends, to see Gatineau grow.

 

Our region could be more dynamic and competitive in front of Ottawa.

 

One of the symbols of my dedication is the quartier du Musée, which I always found the most beautiful neighborhood in Hull. That's why I think that house's values in that hood should increase. Owners of those beautiful houses should also be able to renovate their treasures.  

 

Gatineau's pride should be linked to this quartier du Musée's appreciation, along with iconic, tall buildings, and Canadian Museum of History. I wish that more stores, restaurants, a grocery store and a SAQ point of sale settled in downtown Hull. I want Ottawa to envy us. I want people to be proud and happy to visit the quartier du Musée. Everybody will benefit from it. All merchants, restaurateurs, builders, residents, etc., will be winners. I think that we can generate 35,000 jobs and many billions in Gatineau if we push towards challenging projects in the next ten years. I dream... In 20 years, I dream that Gatineau's community expand and live in tall and quality buildings and enjoy nearby services, bike paths and a great and functional environment.»

 

If we move forward, I think that Gatineau will not be ignored anymore. Quebec will respect us, government will support us in education and health fields, because Gatineau will be the most prosperous city. That was my vision in 1985 and it's still is. I'm more thrilled than ever!
