Returning Heritage Gems to the Community

Built heritage is a testimony to the history and culture of a community, reflecting its evolution through the ages. Brigil has acquired several buildings with significant historical value. The protection, integration and enhancement of these buildings are part of the mission of the developer, who, as someone who builds with purpose, wishes to preserve this memory for future generations while making them accessible to all.

The Columbia Farm: building the future by protecting the past

The construction of the new Columbia community is a concrete example. The rental tower, which was completed in September 2022, stands proudly behind the Columbia Farm, a 200-year-old Georgian-style house that received its heritage citation in 1988. Like a work of art, the Columbia Farm will be showcased for years to come.

69 Laurier Street: preserving our cultural history

Brigil also acquired 69 Laurier Street, located in the Quartier-du-Musée. The Edwardian-style building, built in 1921 and better known as Café Henry Burger, has long been a favourite spot for influential people and foodies looking for the best table in the region. Brigil intends to protect this gastronomic reference, like an imprint of the past that we preserve in the traces that Brigil wishes to leave for future generations.

Presbytery of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce

More recently, Gilles Desjardins acquired the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce presbytery. This imposing stone building, designated a heritage building in 2018, is the only remaining vestige of the first Catholic parish in Hull. The vision of the business man is to integrate it into a future signature project, where the conservation and enhancement of the built heritage will once again be given priority so that everyone can make it their own.

The Belmont House (Aylmer Country Club)

Another notable gesture by Brigil, in the Aylmer sector, is the acquisition of the prestigious Maison Belmont (Club Champêtre). Sums have already been invested to stabilize the structure, protect this regional jewel and ensure its preservation.

Heritage protection at the heart of our actions

Since 1985, the family business has been proud to build a quality of life by sculpting the landscape of the National Capital Region. In addition to this, we are committed to the conservation and enhancement of our built heritage, to continue to protect these symbols of our community’s cultural identity.
