Perfectly at home on and off the ice. Hockey star Jean-Gabriel Pageau moves into his new Ottawa home.

Perfectly at home on and off the ice.

Q: How would you describe your home in one or two words?

A: Comforting and stunning.

Q: Describe your home and what is most special about it?

A: I live at the Dale, Brigil’s newest 33-storey rental tower located near the Ottawa River, encircled by West- boro and Wellington Village. We moved in July 13, and have already taken advantage of the splendid common areas, which make for 10,000 sq.ft. of additional space when we venture outside our 1,419 sq.ft. penthouse. We mostly enjoy the pool, the yoga room and the rooftop terrace and panoramic lounge.

Q: What attracted you to this space?

A: The strategic location was what first attracted us. Both my wife and I are from Gatineau so we wanted something that was close to that. It’s also close to Westboro where most of our favourite restaurants are and we
can easily walk there.

Q: Who shares this home?

A: My beautiful wife Camille and our two little teacup chihuahuas (Puce & Aby) share the space. And we look forward to welcoming our son or daughter over the next few months in our little haven of peace.

Q: What is your favourite room and why?

A: The living room! The view is spectacular. We get to feast our eyes on the Gatineau and Ottawa land- scape. We even see Parliament Hill. The Ottawa river runs through it all. It’s an amazing backdrop to our daily life.

Q: How would you describe your decorating style?

A: Since we just moved in, we are still trying to make the space our own and are settling in nicely. But we are definitely oriented towards a modern style. We enjoy natural materials, neutral and earthy colours, all this with an open space concept. The Dale’s luxurious style fits perfectly with what we want to do.

Q: What is your fondest memory in this home?

A: With a kid on the way, I am sure this place will be filled with several precious memories, but so far, it’s the nightly walks outside with our dogs. We love doing and creating new memories in the process with these moments. The pandemic has really made us realize how precious having your loved ones around is.

Q: If your walls could talk, what would they say?

A: ‘Why are you looking at me? Haven’t you seen the breathtaking views?’
The couple just loves the panoramic view of the area located near the Ottawa River and Westboro and the Wellington Village.

Pageau started his career with the Ottawa Senators and in 2020 signed a six- year contract extension to remain with the NY Islanders. No stranger to Ottawa hockey fans, Jean-Gabriel “J- G” Pageau now plays for New York Islanders of the National Hockey League.

Pageau was selected by the Ottawa Senators in the fourth round, 96th overall, of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft with whom he spent the first part of his NHL career prior to his trade to the Islanders in 2020. He subsequently signed to a six- year contract to remain with the Islanders through 2026.

Fresh off a long run in this year’s Stanley Cup playoffs, Pageau fits the mould of a scrappy, hard-working player who can fill several roles for his team including power play and penalty kill, while scoring goals in key situations.

Pageau describes his childhood as wonderful. “I first stepped on the ice when I was four. I still remember going to the outdoor skating rink around 6 or 7 a.m. accompanied by my parents. I am fortunate and grateful; they have always been supportive of my passions.”

Recently, Pageau and his wife, Camille, just found out that we are expecting their first child. “My next endeavour will therefore be to learn how to be the best dad I can.” Also, being quick to offer his services for charity events and always taking time to meet with local fans, Pageau is looking forward to post-pandemic times and the many charity events that will start taking place again. “I like to participate in golf tournaments, to help raise money for various causes and foundations.”
And the best part of being an athlete, just being able to enjoy “my passion of playing hockey for a living”. Celebrity Spaces recently spoke to Pageau at his brand new Ottawa home.
