Laurier Street in Gatineau
Museum District Revitalization and Enhancement Project
Having acquired four properties at 35, 61, 69 and 77 Laurier Street, Brigil’s objective is to revitalize the historic “Quartier du Musée” which is cited heritage neighbourhood. This signature project will not only honour the past but also protect and highlight the area’s historic value. In so doing, the cultural identity of Gatineau will be enhanced, boosting pride for all residents and attracting visitors from across the country and around the world.
A pillar of Brigil’s mission as builders with purpose is to preserve and showcase architectural gems. The former Notre-Dame-de-Grâce presbytery – adjacent to the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel – is set to become Brigil’s third heritage building restoration. The first will be the nearby Ferme Columbia (376 St-Joseph Boulevard) and the second the former Henry Burger restaurant at 69 Laurier Street.
The buildings at 61 and 77 Laurier present great potential as part of the overall plan to create a stunning new district that will draw accolades from near and far. Consistent with its operations for the past 35 years, Brigil’s approach will be a patient and measured one for this project.
The company’s vision is to collaborate with area residents, the municipality and other stakeholders to complete a development plan that is certain to be embraced and cherished by all, fuelling renewed interest and excitement in this historic area.
